Beware of the pump and dump: Breastfeeding, Marketing, & Relationships

In today's society we have various sayings and terms that relate to the current times. We have "thot - that hoe over there" that has been reigning for years, "turn up-have more fun" is slowly dying, there is "lit - completely turned up" which means so much and then we have "opp - snitch, enemy" which means one thing at my job and another in the streets.

So, ever heard of the term "pump and dump"? Most women are familiar if they ever had children and breast fed. In that sense, it's an act of drinking "wine" then pumping the tainted breast milk and dumping it to avoid feeding baby alcohol in their milk.

In stock it is a form of securities fraud that involves artificially inflating the price of an owned stock through false and misleading positive statements, in order to sell the cheaply purchased stock at a higher price. Once the operators of the scheme sell their overvalued shares, the price falls and the investors lose their money. ~Wikipedia

A simpler breakdown would be what companies like Carol's Daughter or even Shea Moisture did to black women. When they were nobodies, black women were their target market and main consumer at high prices. Once they made it big by having white investors, employees, etc. they broadened their product to suit more mixed ethnicities and in the process change the chemical make-up to the point where they no longer benefited black women (complete white wash). Removed them from from promotion and diversified it to adhere to the desired consumer.

In relationships, being the pump and dump chick/guy is something to avoid altogether. Ever noticed how someone that was completely irrelevant dates someone important and then they become a post on the latest gossip site? That's done strategically people. Even if there is no fame involved someone that dates another individual valued more in one area or another may gain what that person has. In return they are either grateful or they leave that individual and take away some of that individuals value, depleting their worth. It's like getting a gold plated ring that isn't 100% gold. The value predicted decreases.
Men and women do it to a damaging extent. Don't be a pump and dump chick/guy. Pay attention and remember to invest in your true value.
